Als je traumatische ervaringen meemaakt heb je de steun van je omgeving hard nodig. Tegelijkertijd wordt je omgeving ook geraakt door jouw trauma’s. Trauma’s doen pijn. Het is schrijnend wanneer je dan juist het contact met je naasten verliest, of wanneer je je als naaste realiseert dat je de ander niet kunt bereiken.
In Mag ik bij jou? beschrijft Elisa van Ee hoe je de gevolgen van traumatische ervaringen voor relaties kunt begrijpen en hoe je verbonden kunt blijven of de ander kunt steunen zonder overbelast te raken. Aan de hand van verschillende thema’s onderzoekt Van Ee waarom het zo belangrijk is om er na traumatische ervaringen voor elkaar te zijn, waarom het juist zo moeilijk kan zijn om de ander te bereiken of toe te laten, maar vooral wat je eraan kunt doen. Met tips, vragen en oefeningen ontstaan er nieuwe manieren om niet alleen het trauma, maar vooral ook het leven met elkaar te delen, of je nu partner, ouder, grootouder, kind of gewoon de buurman bent.
Elisa van Ee is bijzonder hoogleraar psychotraumatologie in ontwikkelingsperspectief aan de Radboud Universiteit en klinisch psycholoog, psychotraumatherapeut en systeemtherapeut bij het Psychotraumacentrum Zuid-Nederland van Reinier van Arkel.
