Traumanet offers reliable information, personal stories, training courses, and research on trauma and recovery.
In the process, we sometimes process personal data. We always do this carefully and in accordance with the
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3. What data we collect

Depending on what you do on our site, we process the following data:

• Website visit: IP address, device, and browser data (for security and anonymous statistics via Cloudflare)
• Newsletter sign-up: name, email address
• Participation in research panel: name, email address, relationship to the topic (e.g., professional, caregiver, expert by experience)
• Donation or payment: name, bank account number (for administration and bookkeeping)
• Contact form: name, email address, message (for answering questions)

4. Minors

Our website is not intended for children under the age of 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian.
If you believe that data regarding a minor has been collected, please email us at [email protected];
We'll remove it right away.

5. Purposes of Processing

We only use your data for:

• Executing our services
• Communication via email or newsletter
• Processing donations
• Improving and Securing Our Website
• Conducting (non-committal) research via the panel
• We never sell your information and only share it when absolutely necessary

• Cloudflare: website security and anonymous visitor statistics
• Our bank and bookkeeper: processing donations and payments
• Webinargeek: platform we host webinars with
• A data processing agreement has been concluded with all these parties so that your data is well protected

7. Retention periods

We apply the following retention periods:

• Newsletter and panel data: until you unsubscribe
• Contact forms: up to 1 year after resolution
• Donation and payment information: 7 years (legal requirement)
• Website log data (IP): maximum 3 months
• Afterwards, we will delete or anonymize everything.

8. Cookies

We only use:

• Functional cookies: to make the site work properly
• Analytical cookies (Cloudflare): anonymous visitor statistics
• We do not use tracking or advertising cookies
• You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings

9. Your rights

You have the right to:

• View your data
• To have your data modified or deleted
• Object to processing
• Withdraw your consent
• To have your data transferred to another organization

Send your request to [email protected]. We will respond within four weeks.
For verification, we may ask for a copy of your ID (black out your photo, BSN, and MRZ).
If you are dissatisfied with our handling, you can submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

10. Security

We take appropriate measures to prevent abuse or loss:

• SSL encryption on all pages
• Firewall and DDoS protection via Cloudflare
• Employee access restrictions
• Data storage within the EU
• Regular backups
